Armstrong Concrete Inc. offers you three different styles of concrete
Standard: This style uses untinted concrete with a light broom texture for outdoor applications and a smooth troweled finish for indoor applications.
Standard Broom Finish

Stamped:  This style uses tinted concrete for a base color which is added during inital concrete mixing.  After placement of the concrete two additional color tints are applied to the surface and the desired pattern is stamed into the surface.

Aged: This style is achieved by eroding the surface for an "aged" look.  Click here for a project using the aged technique.

Exposed Aggregate:  For this style, a concrete mix with decorative stone throughout the thickness of the slab is used.  Three different types of stones are available to you.
1/2 inch River Rock 3/8 inch River Rock (Buckshot)
1/2 inch expose
3/8 inch exposed

Colored:  This style incorporates a powdered dye throughout the mix which gives color to the entire slab.  If the slab becomes damaged or chipped, the newly visible concrete will be the same uniform color as the rest of the slab.  Many more colors are available.  Ask for color selections that suit your needs.

Strength Options

Armstrong Concrete Inc. offers you different strength options for your concrete.

  • Cement content
    • 4500 psi:  This mix contains a high content of cement (the ingredient in concrete which bonds the sand and aggregate together).  It requires more skill to finish but yields a much stronger product.
    • 4000 psi: This mix contains less cement than the 4500 psi mix, increasing the concentration of the stones in exposed aggregate concrete.

  • Fiber mesh:  Small pieces of polypropylene fibers are mixed into the concrete to reduce the risk of cracking during the curing process and increase the strength of the slab.

  • Steel rebar:  Steel rebar is placed in the concrete to help keep different sections of a slab from separating or shifting from one another.  It also minimizes the extent of cracking in future years

  • Curing compound:  For full strength of new concrete, spraying a curing compound onto the surface of the slab is critical.  This application seals in the correct amount of moisture and allows proper curing of the concrete.  With this seal, no dampening of the slab is necessary.
